Hi, I'm Chad!
I’m a father, entrepreneur, data geek, and adventurer at heart, and my passion has always been about learning, teaching, and helping others grow in their careers.
Back in 2006, I started my career at a small analytics firm as a data developer and quickly realized a frustrating truth – we had no documentation, no structured learning, and no clear way to grow. I found myself constantly reverse-engineering solutions, struggling through trial and error, and figuring things out the hard way. Rather than accept that as the norm, I took action. I started documenting everything, creating the company’s first true data dictionary, process management systems, and even their initial blog. That experience shaped how I view learning - it should be structured, repeatable, and accessible.
That mindset led me through multiple roles there, the most impactful being in Customer Support and Sales Engineering, where I found my true passion - teaching others. I realized that helping people understand analytics, decision-making, and leadership was what I loved most…so in 2018, I took a leap and launched Data Prep U, a company focused on training professionals to level up their analytics skills and get the most out of their technology investments. My journey has taken me across the globe, working with hundreds of companies and thousands of professionals, helping them build better processes, streamline workflows, and become more effective in their roles.
But over the years, I kept seeing the same issue: technical professionals, especially those in analytics, struggled with growth and leadership. They knew how to work with data, but they weren’t always interested in growing into a people leader role. I saw so many talented people getting stuck - not because they lacked skill, but because they lacked structure and a path to grow.
